Job Description
- Primary Purpose : Direct and manage the district's transportation department to ensure safe, efficient, and cost‑effective transportation services for all eligible students. Provide leadership in planning, organizing, supervising, and evaluating all transportation operations while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Qualifications
- Education/Certification :
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Texas Commercial Driver License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements preferred or ability to obtain
- School Bus Driver Certification required or ability to obtain
- Completion of required Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) school bus training
- Experience : Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in student transportation.
- Special Knowledge and Skills :
- Knowledge of Texas DPS school bus regulations
- Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations preferred
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance programs preferred
- Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate personnel preferred
- Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to develop efficient bus routes preferred
- Ability to respond effectively during emergencies
