We are seeking a Transportation Design Engineer – Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex roadway and highway projects in Connecticut. This is a high-impact opportunity for a motivated leader to manage projects from concept through construction while helping shape safer, more efficient transportation systems across the region. In this role, you'll serve as both a technical expert and project leader, guiding multidisciplinary teams, partnering with clients, and mentoring emerging talent—all while delivering high-quality transportation solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership & DeliveryLead and manage multiple transportation design projects, with a focus on highways and roadways, for municipal and state clientsOversee all phases of project delivery—from planning and design through constructionDevelop and manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure successful outcomesCoordinate internal teams and collaborate on staff allocation and workload planningSupport business development efforts, including proposals, pursuits, and client strategyTechnical Oversight & Quality AssuranceProvide technical expertise in roadway and highway design and construction management Ensure compliance with client requirements, DOT standards, and regulatory guidelinesPerform QA/QC reviews to maintain high-quality deliverablesIdentify risks and proactively resolve technical and project challengesTeam Leadership & MentorshipLead multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration, innovation, and accountabilityMentor and develop junior engineers and project managersSupport recruitment and team growth initiatives in partnership with leadershipClient & Stakeholder EngagementServe as the primary point of contact for DOT agencies, municipalities, and project stakeholdersPrepare and deliver presentations, reports, and project updatesBuild and maintain strong, long-term client relationships to support repeat business and partnershipsSkills, Knowledge and ExpertiseBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master's preferred)Professional Engineer (PE) license required10+ years of experience in transportation engineeringRoadway/highway design experience requiredProven experience managing complex infrastructure projects from concept through constructionExperience working with DOT agencies (Connecticut DOT experience strongly preferred)Strong knowledge of transportation design standards, regulations, and best practicesExcellent communication, leadership, and client relationship skillsThis is a hybrid role, offering the best of both worlds—collaborate in-office with a high-performing team and enjoy the flexibility of working remotely part of the week.
