nThis position has the ability to report out of Columbus, OH (Hybrid) or remotely out of AMP's membership footprint
nPosition Title: Transmission Engineer-Station
nReports To: Senior Director Transmission Engineering
nFLSA Status: Exempt
nBasic Functions:

- n Assist with implementing and maintaining AMP Transmission (AMPT) engineering standards. nn n
- n To provide technical direction and guidance on AMPT-owned assets, and potential new projects in planning and construction projects.nn n
- n Develop the detailed project scope and statement of work for the AMPT construction RFP process.nn n
- n Support, assist, and/or develop the design, the calculations, studies and analysis necessary for the construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of electric utility switching station and substation at both the Distribution and Transmission voltage levels.nn n
Essential Functions:

- n Participate in capital project engineering related activities including developing requests for proposals, as well as vetting, selecting, and managing third party engineering companies, vendors and contractors. nn n
- n Review and recommend for approval detailed engineering bid packages for release. nn n
- n In close collaboration with transmission operations, transmission planning and transmission project management, develop, maintain and manage AMPT engineering standards.nn n
- n Assist in developing ratings and guidelines for electric equipment to ensure proper operation and compliance with applicable regulations. nn n
- n Assist in providing technical direction, support and guidance for ongong AMPT owned assets, potential new projects in planning and construction projects.nn n
- n Assist in development of annual budget and regular budget updates; maintain contract records.nn n
- n Develop and maintain drawing management file system and engineering databases. nn n
- n Coordinate and collaborate with other AMPT functions, Members and other stakeholders.nn n
- n Perform other duties as assigned.nn n
Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications:
n- n
- n A four-year accredited degree in engineering required, civil or electrical engineering preferred.nn n
- n A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in electric transmission engineering or distribution engineering is preferred. nn n
- n A Professional Engineer's license is preferred.nn n
- n Preferred knowledge and experience in transmission protection and control engineering and/or transmission line engineering.nn n
- n Preferred knowledge of FERC Uniform System of Accounts (Part 35 of 18.1 CFR).nn n
- n Preferred knowledge of RTO transmission planning processes and system operations.nn n
- n Preferred knowledge of NERC processes and compliance obligations.nn n
- n Preferred knowledge of project management and transmission planning software.nn n
- n Must be deadline/critical path oriented and have a strong ability to prioritize.nn n
- n Experience with computer aided design software, graphical information system software and Aspen or similar software applications preferred.nn n
- n Must demonstrate a high degree of expertise in the use of software tools that produce items such as spreadsheets, written reports, database reports and graphical presentations (e.g., Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint). nn n
- n Strong verbal, written, and computer skills are essential; must demonstrate previous success in building effective business relationships.nn n
- n Must successfully complete FERC Standards of Conduct compliance training within 30 days of employment.nn n
- n Must be willing to travel; travel to project work sites and/or Columbus headquarters.nn n
