Transition Support Associate
The Transition Support Associate supervises students in the hallways, cafeteria, bathrooms, and common areas. The Hall/Student Monitor will report to the Chief of Staff and will work with the Dean of Students to promote a safe and healthy school environment, maintains the appropriate environment by enforcing hall rules and guidelines, exhibits willingness and ability to work with all school employee groups.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Supervises students in common areas
- Enforces hall rules and schoolwide guidelines
- Coordinates with the Chief of Staff on the process of communicating with parents/guardians
- Conducts home visits
- Facilitates communication and coordination between school, families and external agencies
- Monitors student performance and provides support to increase academic achievement
- Supports in classrooms as needed
- Provides daily updates on interactions/activity with students
- Checks in students and provides passes
- Assists with Student Check Out
- Assists with detention as requested by the Chief of Staff
- Functions as the primary student monitor during open times (ie – before school, class transitions, lunch, afterschool, hallways)
- Takes the necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Conducts oneself in a professional manner in all aspects of their relationship with the students.
- Promotes a safe and healthy school environment
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates interest in students and education.
- Experience working with large numbers of students.
- Experience working with a diverse population within education or related fields.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required
- 2-3 years' experience working with youth from low-income background, first generation college students, and/or students of color
- 2-3 years' experience with student support/monitoring
- 1-2 years' experience with SEL/Mindfulness practices
