Transformer Test Technician IIWe're looking for a Transformer Test Technician II with hands-on experience in transformer testing and repair who's ready to support mission-critical power projects across the U.S. This field-based role focuses on performing and documenting advanced electrical tests and troubleshooting for a wide range of OEM transformers. You'll work independently or as part of a crew to ensure reliability, safety, and customer satisfaction.What You'll Do:Perform transformer testing and troubleshooting, including Megger, TTR, SFRA, Power Factor, and Core GroundSupport passivation testing and verification of transformer accessoriesTest alarms and system protections in transformersTroubleshoot control wiring issues and support repair effortsFollow OEM, utility, and end-user testing specificationsAccurately document test results and generate customer reportsOperate industrial and construction equipment safelyMaintain and inspect tools, vehicles, and equipmentAdhere to all company safety and environmental protocols (especially spill containment)Follow strict safety and PPE usage protocols due to noise, electrical hazards, and elevated work areasThe Experience We're Looking For:3–5 years of experience in transformer testing or servicesPrior experience with transformer oil work and assembly (including degassing and oil processing)Strong understanding of Load Tap ChangersFamiliarity with Microsoft Office and basic digital platformsAbility to read technical drawings, scopes, and wiring diagramsExperience preparing units for disposal following environmental standardsAdditional Requirements:Willingness to travel up to 80% across the continental U.S.High school diploma or GED requiredValid driver's licenseMust successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug testsLegally authorized to work in the United StatesAvailable for extended and irregular hours, including weekends and holidaysRequires good vision, hearing, and English proficiency for safe, effective communication in noisy environmentsBonus Points for:Extensive experience with Power Factor, SFRA, TTR, and other diagnostic testsTest software familiarity and reporting systemsPrevious leadership or mentorship in field testing crewsOEM or utility-side testing documentation experienceClass A CDLOSHA and TWIC certificationsWhy Join RMS Energy: We're not just another power services company.
