Trainer General / Instructional Systems Designer

This full-time onsite role focuses on designing, developing, and implementing high-quality technical training that supports critical business objectives. You will conduct in-depth performance assessments, collaborate closely with skilled trades subject matter experts, and create engaging learning solutions in multiple formats, including written, virtual, graphic, and video-based content.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth assessments, including individual and organizational performance diagnostics, to identify training and performance needs.
  • Design, develop, and implement technical training programs that align with and support critical business objectives.
  • Perform detailed needs assessments and consult with stakeholders to determine the most effective learning solutions.
  • Develop instructional strategies and learning experiences that enhance learner engagement and knowledge retention.
  • Create and refine instructional materials, including written content, graphics, and multimedia assets for virtual and in-person training.
  • Collaborate closely with skilled trades subject matter experts to gather technical content and translate it into clear, effective training materials.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams, including management, to ensure training solutions meet organizational requirements.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of learning solutions using appropriate assessment and evaluation methods, and refine content based on feedback and results.
  • Manage multiple training design and development projects within a corporate environment, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
  • Conduct research using a variety of methods to inform instructional design decisions and maintain best practices in learning design.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum 10 years of design and development experience within a corporate setting.
  • Extensive consulting and needs assessment experience for learning and performance solutions.
  • Proven expertise in instructional design, including designing and developing technical training.
  • Ability to conduct individual and organizational performance diagnostics to identify appropriate training interventions.
  • Strong experience designing and implementing learning solutions that achieve defined business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with teams of subject matter experts and management.
  • Experience conducting research using a variety of methods to support instructional design.
  • Proficiency in developing instructional strategies for different learning modalities.
  • Strong written communication skills for creating clear and concise training content.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with virtual instructional design, including online and remote learning solutions.
  • Experience with graphic design to create engaging visual training materials.
  • Experience developing written and video-based training content.
  • Background in technical training design and development.
  • Familiarity with corporate training environments and processes.
  • Formal qualifications in instructional design or related fields (to be determined by the employer).
Work Environment

This is a full-time onsite position with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You will work in a professional corporate environment, collaborating closely with skilled trades subject matter experts, cross-functional teams, and management. The role focuses on technical training design and development and may involve the use of common office and design tools, as well as technologies that support virtual and multimedia learning.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Lincoln Park, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.29 - $44.32/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
