Traffic Engineering Project ManagerVHB's growing Hauppauge, NY team is looking for a Traffic Engineering Project Manager to join our Transportation team. The right candidate would be joining a tight-knit team of traffic engineers and transportation planners who value technical excellence, career development, pride in our work, a collaborative team environment, and a passion for finding the right solutions that enhance mobility and safety.Responsibilities:Manage traffic engineering, transportation planning, and/or safety projects and contractsAttend and lead meetings with agencies, clients, consultant partners, and stakeholdersDevelop new project opportunities, manage client relationships, and prepare and manage proposal submissionsComplete traffic safety and operational improvement studies for localized intersections and corridorsLead development of traffic impact analyses (TIAs) and/or TIA reviews on behalf of municipalitiesProvide analyses of traffic safety issues and crash reduction measuresConduct field investigations to determine crash contributing factors and identification of appropriate countermeasuresOversee quality and contribute to complex technical decisions on a range of multimodal transportation engineering assignmentsAddress community traffic engineering and safety issuesManage projects involving the design of traffic control devices (signs, markings, signals)Develop mobility solutions which consider all users, including motorists, bicyclists, public transit users and pedestrians of all ages and abilitiesFamiliarity with Long Island, NY region municipalities and agencies traffic operations and safety policies and practicesWork collaboratively with team, as well as provide leadership, mentoring, and direction to staffSkills and Abilities:Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skillsSelf-motivated with strong attention to detailStrong writing skills for proposals, technical reports and memorandaAbility to present at public meetings as part of project outreachThe ability to manage multiple projects and work independentlyAn understanding of effectively overseeing multi-disciplinary projects and teamsExperience managing projects and marketing transportation servicesMotivated to lead and mentor junior team membersQualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study requiredMaster's degree a plus and may substitute for 1 year of experience8-11 years of professional experience in traffic/transportation engineering requiredExperience with Long Island, NY region transportation projects preferredProfessional Engineer (P.E.) licensure requiredUnderstanding of Vissim and Synchro preferredExperience with SEQRA preferredOur best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Hauppauge, NY is $120,000-170,000.
