To provide competent instruction to students in the area of stated expertise.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of the culture, language and traditions of the village.
  • Knowledge of the Yup'ik language is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and abilities in stated areas of expertise.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to live and work in a rural Alaskan environment.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with administrators, classroom teachers, and aides.
  • Ability to carry out the duties described below.

Duties

  • Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, develop instruction plan, acquire necessary supplies and equipment and provide instruction to involved students in the traditional Yup'ik/Cup'ik culture and language.
  • Under the supervision of the assigned supervisor, supervise students and maintain classroom area.
  • Arrange to display student projects in the school and within the community.
  • Make or provide input for required student evaluation and/or progress reports, if necessary.
