Duties Description Capital District Psychiatric Center (CDPC) has immediate job opportunities for a Carpenter to join their team as a Trades Specialist.
As a Trades Specialist (Carpenter) at CDPC, you will perform a variety of carpentry and maintenance duties involving the construction, installation, and repair of fixtures and structures on the CDPC campus and outpatient residences. Tasks may include:
• Constructing, installing, repairing, and maintaining counters, cabinets, benches partitions, floors, doors, building framework, roofs, trim, and other structural components.
• Performing carpentry work using standard trade practices and techniques.
• Working with a variety of building materials including, but not limited to, wood, sheet metal, plastic, and aluminum.
• Installing, repairing, and replacing ceiling and floor tiles.
• Maintaining, servicing, and safely operating carpentry shop machinery and equipment.
• Overseeing the distribution, maintenance, and storage of carpentry tools and maintaining inventory.
• Providing instruction and supervising assigned staff to complete carpentry-related projects when required.
Minimum Qualifications • Four (4) years of full-time experience in carpentry work under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program, or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in carpentry at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services; or
• Successful completion of a two-year carpenter training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program* such as the New York State Civil Service Employees Association-Partnership Applied Skilled Trades Traineeship and Certificate Program.
* Successful completion of a training program includes a total of 288 hours of trade-specific classroom instruction, 45 hours of technical math course work, 45 hours of technical communications course work, and 15 hours of blueprint/schematic reading course work. Course work must be completed with an average of "C" or better.
