Business Execution Consultant II – Trade Operations & Data Analysis
Company: Calculated Hire
Location: Charlotte, NC – Hybrid
Schedule: First month fully onsite (5 days/week), transitioning to 3 days onsite and 2 days remote
Contract Duration: 9 months
Pay Rate: Up to $38/hr W2
Position Overview
Calculated Hire is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical Business Execution Consultant II – Trade Operations & Data Analysis to support a capital markets team focused on historical trade reconciliation, discrepancy investigation, and process remediation.
This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into complex data, understanding why discrepancies occur, and developing practical solutions to improve operational accuracy and efficiency.
The team is looking for a hands-on problem solver who can investigate trade exceptions, identify root causes, document findings, and collaborate with business and technology partners to develop sustainable improvements.
While capital markets and trade operations experience is valuable, success in this role will be driven by strong analytical thinking, technical curiosity, attention to detail, and the ability to turn complex problems into actionable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Investigate historical trade discrepancies and reconciliation exceptions across internal systems, trade records, and counterparty information.
- Analyze transactional data to identify mismatches, recurring issues, operational risks, and underlying root causes.
- Research and resolve trade breaks, partnering with internal operations, business, and technology teams to drive remediation efforts.
- Review large volumes of financial and transactional data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency across systems.
- Identify opportunities to streamline reconciliation processes, reduce recurring exceptions, and improve operational efficiency.
- Translate investigative findings and business needs into clear documentation, functional requirements, and actionable recommendations for technology partners.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, procedures, and investigation findings to support consistent, sustainable operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand system limitations, evaluate potential solutions, and support process enhancements.
- Utilize analytical tools, reporting capabilities, and available technology to improve investigation workflows and data accuracy.
- Track outstanding exceptions, communicate investigation progress, and ensure issues are documented and followed through to resolution.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in financial services, preferably within capital markets, trade operations, middle office, securities operations, or a related analytical function.
- Hands-on experience investigating discrepancies, managing exceptions, performing reconciliations, or conducting root-cause analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research complex issues across multiple data sources.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with financial, transactional, or operational data.
- Experience documenting investigation findings, business processes, procedures, or operational requirements.
- Ability to collaborate with business stakeholders and technology teams to investigate issues and coordinate solutions.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple investigations or priorities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated initiative, intellectual curiosity, and interest in identifying process improvements rather than simply resolving individual issues.
- Comfortable performing hands-on, detail-intensive investigative work in a fast-paced operational environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with OTC derivatives, trade lifecycle operations, trade reconciliation, or counterparty exception management.
- Background in business analysis, business systems analysis, or operations process improvement within financial services.
- Experience gathering business requirements, writing functional documentation, or supporting technology enhancements.
- Familiarity with trade processing platforms, reconciliation tools, or systems such as TriResolve/TriOptima.
- Experience using SQL, VBA, Power Query, or other data analysis and automation tools.
- Exposure to Microsoft Copilot, AI-assisted workflows, or automation initiatives used to improve operational processes.
- Experience identifying recurring operational issues and implementing improvements to reduce manual effort or prevent future discrepancies.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is someone who genuinely enjoys investigating complex problems, working through detailed data, and understanding how financial operations and technology intersect.
They are naturally curious, ask thoughtful questions, and take ownership of an issue beyond identifying the initial discrepancy. They can explain their findings, document the steps needed to resolve a problem, and recognize opportunities to make processes more efficient and sustainable.
This is a hands-on analytical role, not a trading leadership or high-level oversight position. Candidates who enjoy working directly with data, investigating exceptions, and developing practical operational solutions will be especially successful.
