Job TitleCustoms Compliance SpecialistDuties and ResponsibilitiesCustoms CompliancePerform HTS classification and duty determination using GRI, Explanatory Notes, and CBP rulingsEnsure compliance with CBP and Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements (DOT, EPA, etc.)Maintain and manage classification database, including rulings and audit documentationMonitor regulatory changes and assess impact on operationsReview product classification, valuation, and hazardous materials marking and labeling for compliancePerform research and analysis related to trade compliance, risk assessment and applicable legal or regulatory rulings.Import OperationsCoordinate the end-to-end import process for high-volume and/or complex transactions, including data entry and documentation through Kawasaki's internal systems.Coordinate with brokers, 3PLs, and carriers to resolve issues and prevent delays.DocumentationReview and validate import documentation for accuracy and regulatory compliance.Ensure proper declaration of value, classification and required data elements.Audit and Payment ProcessingAudit vendor invoices, freight bills, duties, and brokerage charges for accuracy and complianceEnsure adherence to internal financial controls and trade compliance policiesSubmit verified invoices for timely payment to prevent service disruptions or late feesCross-Functional Collaboration & DevelopmentServe as primary contact for shipments and compliance-related inquiriesParticipate in cross-training to support operationsParticipate in trade compliance training, seminars, and professional developmentPerform additional duties and special projects assignedEducation and ExperienceA bachelor's degree is preferred, or minimum 2 years related experience and/or training in compliance environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.QualificationsMust have working experience of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), Explanatory Notes (EN), and US Customs regulations (19 CFR)Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detailProven analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to assess and resolve issues efficiently.Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to work effectively with internal and external partnersAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of accuracySelf-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.Proficiency in Microsoft Word and ExcelCustoms Broker License and/or completion of a Customs Broker licensing course preferred but not requiredCertified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation preferred but not requiredSalary: $24.00 - $26.00 per hourTo support your health and wellness goals, Kawasaki provides a comprehensive benefits program dedicated to the well-being of our employees and their families.What we offer:Competitive salary based on experienceMedical, Dental, Vision and Pet insurance401(k) matchLife and Disability benefitsGenerous PTO policyUp to 12 paid company holidaysEmployee discounts on Kawasaki productsKMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer; employment with KMC is governed on the basis of merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status.Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
