The Trade Compliance Analyst – Imports is responsible for supporting the company’s import compliance obligations across multiple U.S. manufacturing and distribution entities, including WEG, Marathon Electric, Electric Machinery, and WEG Transformers. This role focuses on import execution, documentation, broker coordination, and regulatory reporting required to maintain compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other applicable regulatory bodies.

The position plays a critical role in managing increased administrative and audit demands driven by evolving trade regulations, expanded tariff programs, and heightened customs reporting requirements. The role is execution-oriented, detail-driven, and essential to sustaining compliant import operations at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Import Compliance & Customs Operations

  • Support day-to-day import compliance activities in accordance with U.S. Customs regulations, CBP requirements, and internal compliance policies
  • Monitor bonded warehouse entries and exits initiated by Project Management and Operations teams
  • Coordinate with customs brokers to resolve entry issues, documentation requests, and post-entry corrections
  • Review and validate import documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance
  • Support compliance activities related to Section 232 tariffs, IEEPA tariffs, and other trade remedy measures
  • Assist with data validation, downstream auditing, and broker reporting requirements associated with enhanced CBP scrutiny
  • Identify discrepancies and escalate potential compliance risks to the Lead Trade Compliance Analyst – Imports

Duty Drawback & Free Trade Agreements

  • Compile and provide required documentation to support the Duty Drawback program
  • Respond to USMCA and other Free Trade Agreement certificate requests from internal stakeholders, customers, and platforms
  • Maintain supporting records to ensure audit readiness and traceability

Documentation, Controls & Audit Support

  • Maintain organized and auditable compliance records in accordance with company retention policies
  • Support internal and external audits related to import compliance and customs activity
  • Assist with continuous improvement of trade compliance processes, templates, and controls

Product & Regulatory Declarations

  • Support responses to customer and platform-driven compliance requests, including but not limited to:
    • Conflict Minerals
    • RoHS
    • REACH
    • PFAS
    • California Proposition 65
    • Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)
    • EMRT and related disclosures
  • Manage submissions through the Assent platform and direct customer inquiries in coordination with Trade Compliance leadership

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Business, Logistics, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in import compliance, customs operations, or global trade within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and import documentation requirements
  • Experience working with customs brokers and third-party trade compliance platforms
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume administrative work accurately
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and document management systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)
  • Experience supporting bonded warehouse activity and Duty Drawback programs
  • Familiarity with Section 232, IEEPA, and other trade remedy measures
  • Experience responding to regulatory product declarations and customer compliance requests
  • Exposure to Assent or similar compliance platforms
  • Manufacturing or multi-entity corporate environment experience
  • Compliance mindset with strong risk awareness
  • Detail-oriented and process-driven
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong coordination skills across Operations, Project Management, Finance, and external partners
