nThe Town Traffic Engineer reports to the Assistant Town Engineer. The primary job duties of this position include:

Provides high-level supervision, mentorship and direction to a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff, including Traffic Engineering, ITS Traffic Operations, and Signal Field Services; manages hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary recommendations while fostering a culture of collaboration and technical excellence.

Administers the division’s budget, including complex grant management, long-term fiscal planning for regional infrastructure projects and operating budget.

Serves as the Town’s primary expert for the Town Engineer, the Town Manager, Mayor, Council and the Planning Commission on transportation, development and traffic related issues; attends hearing and provides expert testimony and technical guidance.

Manages complex projects, systems work processes and compliance, monitoring project completions status and approving high-level project deliverables.

Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, laws, and regulations; develops and implements Town transportation and traffic standards, policies, processes and procedures;

Make high level and sensitive decision on a daily basis while maintaining the balance between the needs of policy makers, developers, internal and external stakeholders as well as keeping the goal of providing safe and efficient transportation to the people of Gilbert

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation or Traffic Engineering, Master's Degree preferred;

10+ years of extensive knowledge and progressively responsible experience in traffic/transportation engineering within an urbanized municipal agency or related public agency;

6 years of supervisory/managerial experience;
n n - n
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS

Professional Engineering (P.E.) License, PTOE Certification Preferred;

Valid Arizona Driver's License.

This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Exempt - ineligible for overtime compensation.
