Tooling Engineer 1DPP is seeking a Tooling Engineer 1 for an opportunity with our client in the Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing industry. Work location: Fully onsite in El Segundo, CA. Hours: 9x80 A Duration: 2 months Term: W2 contract Work Authorization: US Citizen; Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance & special program access.

Position summary:The Tooling Engineer 1 will support the tooling department to design industrial tools, died, gauges, drill & assembly jigs, fixtures, machine attachments and equipment, required for assembly, composite production or experimental use, considering such factors as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements. This role works closely with manufacturing, operations, vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure tooling meets quality, cost, schedule, and safety requirements.Responsibilities:Develop tooling concepts and support equipment for new and existing programsDesign tooling and equipment, including engineering drawings, inspection requirements, and verification plansReview designs for manufacturability, fit, form, and functionIdentify and mitigate safety risks in accordance with company and state/government standardsDevelops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposals.Interface with internal customers and design review teams to ensure requirements are metCoordinates with manufacturing, operations, and process engineering to support program quality, delivery, and cost objectivesManage tooling projects, including cost, schedule, procurement, and fabricationChecks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers.Support vendors during fabrication and inspect fabricated tooling for drawing complianceSupport continuous improvement initiatives and proactive problem-solving Safety, Process, and ComplianceSupport investigations related to root cause analysis, non-conformances, and process failuresRequired qualifications:Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance & special program accessExperience with modeling and drafting using CAD software tools, preferably Siemens NX & CATIAKnowledge of manufacturing, fabrication processes & machine shop practicesExperience with drawing release criteria and related documents for: Completeness, clarity, and dimensional accuracy Correctness of materials and processes Conformity to design/drafting standards (e.g.

GD&T), design specifications, and practicability; Economy of fabrication, assembly, and installation.Knowledge and application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2018)Excellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills in managing time, projects, and resourcesTechnical attention to detailRequired education:Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) disciplinePreferred qualifications:Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environmentExperience in engineering, design, and fabrication of special tooling and support equipmentExperience in design, fabrication and implementation of tooling used in the manufacture of composite partsAbility to evaluate vendor capabilities for tooling and aerospace part productionExperience participating in developments project, establishing tooling SOW & design estimates.Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.Excellent organizational and project management skillsExperience with stress analysis of simple to complex problems via hand calculations and FEMAP/NASTRANProfessional Engineering LicenseInterested?
