Thermal Data Center Systems EngineerJohnson Controls is seeking a Thermal Data Center Systems Engineer! This is an entry-level position within the Data Center Thermal Solutions Engineering team. You will provide foundational experience in thermal system design, analysis, and testing for data center cooling applications.
You will support product development efforts across the thermal chain—from server-level heat capture through ambient heat rejection—while developing expertise in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and integrated system design. This position is based onsite, minimum 3 days per week, at our Advanced Technology and Innovation Center located in New Freedom, PA. Candidates must be commuting distance to the facility or able to relocate.Assist with prototype development, testing, and validation of thermal components and subsystemsParticipate in design reviews and contribute to thermal calculations and documentationLearn and apply thermal modeling tools, CFD software, and test equipment under guidanceDevelop understanding of the complete thermal chain from chip-level cooling to ambient heat rejectionSupport cross-functional teams including controls, electrical, and mechanical engineeringRequired: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related fieldHeat transfer analysis (conduction, convection, two-phase)Thermodynamic cycle analysisFluid mechanics and hydraulic system designThermal system component sizing and selectionCAD proficiencyEngineering calculations and documentationPreferred: Entry level; internship or co-op experience preferredJohnson Controls International plc.
