Therapist - Speech Language Pathologist

n Job Summary:n
n The Speech-Language Pathologist provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment services aimed at improving patients' communication, swallowing, and functional abilities across diverse settings. The role involves developing personalized care plans, collaborating with healthcare teams, and educating patients and families to maximize rehabilitative outcomes.n

n Responsibilities:n

• n Assess patients' communication, speech, language, and swallowing functions through clinical evaluation and standardized testing.n
• n Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans based on patient response and clinical assessment.n
• n Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians, nurses, and other rehabilitation professionals, to coordinate care and ensure proper discharge planning.n
• n Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, use of assistive devices, and self-care techniques to promote independence and optimal functioning.n
• n Document all patient encounters thoroughly, including diagnoses, treatment plans, progress notes, and recommendations, in compliance with organizational standards.n
• n Conduct community outreach and participate in health promotion activities, including home assessments and remote patient visits, sometimes requiring multi-day travel to remote areas.n

n Qualifications:n

• n Hold a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.n
• n Obtain or possess CCC-SLP certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association within the first year of employment and maintain it thereafter.n
• n Licensed by the State of Alaska in Speech-Language Pathology.n
• n Demonstrate experience with acute care, neurology, pediatrics, and swallow studies such as MBSS or FEES preferred.n
• n Possess current Basic Life Support certification and a valid Alaska Driver’s License.n
• n Exhibit proficiency in assessment, treatment planning, documentation, and use of healthcare technology.n
