Therapist Position at Samaritan Behavioral Health, Inc
The therapist plans and delivers outcome-effective clinical, case coordination, intervention, prevention, and/or consultation mental health services to pediatrics and their parents, and the agencies that serve them. Services are provided both within this agency and in the community, in families' homes, in schools, and other social service agencies necessitating transportation. Therapist may provide clinical supervision to non-independently licensed mental health staff upon obtaining "Supervisor" status for licensure.
Job duties include demonstrating adherence to the PHP/SBHI Patient Experience philosophy, guidelines and tools; demonstrating strong ethics, honesty, and adherence to PHP/SBHI Code of Conduct and PHP/SBHI Compliance Program; scheduling and completing direct face to face assessments within a timely manner according to departmental standards and productivity expectations; providing other direct, face to face, clinical services to clients via individual, family, day tx/PH and group therapies according to departmental standards and productivity expectations; collaborating with referral source, internal team members and external service providers to ensure appropriate client care and continuity of care; providing case management and CPST services to coordinate clinical care in the form of face to face, telephone calls, report writing and case conference meetings; providing clinical services within a client-centered and strengths-based approach, consistent with the philosophies of YCATS and applicable accreditation organizations; completing all clinical documentation within set time frames per Program guidelines; demonstrating clinical knowledge and skills relevant to the clinical service and intervention method provided to both pediatric clients and their families; maintaining scheduled appointments and other workload activities on the electronic scheduler according to SBHI standards; seeking psychiatric/physician consultations regarding medical needs of clients. Maintaining on-going communication with psychiatrists/physicians for the purpose of coordinating and evaluating client care; demonstrating knowledge of SBHI and YCATS clinical records and other paperwork standards, and applying competencies in both the provision and documentation of clinical records; demonstrating compliance with departmental standards for administration and reporting of outcome measures and documentation of utilization management of clinical care; demonstrating knowledge of regulatory standards and ensuring that clinical records are maintained in compliance with these standards at all times; participating and completing and correcting monthly Peer Reviews; ensuring productivity standards are met consistently as applicable to departmental standards; demonstrating knowledge of Information Technology policies and procedures and applying them to the documentation of clinical care according to medical records and other departmental standards; demonstrating in daily clinical work the use of best practice techniques and plan clinical service delivery in accordance with a strengths-based treatment approach discussed with and approved by program director; participating in the research, strategic planning and implementation of activities to promote departmental services, including decentralized locations and new service initiatives; meeting regularly with supervisor and as needed to review clinical care of clients according to licensing body, SBHI standards and administrative needs; consultation services: building effective relationships with external recipients of consultation services, and demonstrating a collaborative approach to consultation services; consultation services: presenting a positive image of YCATS and SBHI by demonstrating behaviors consistent with those of YCATS and SBHI. Engaging customers/clients and facilitating access to therapeutic services as needed; responding within departmental timeframes to failed activities and alerts; proactively providing communication regarding any problematic issues within CareLogic or other billing and documentation processes to supervisor; attending all offered internal trainings regarding BH Redesign; ensuring releases of information are obtained for outside entities providing services to the client and initiating communication regarding client progress in other settings; maintaining regular communication with client caretakers to facilitate treatment goals and to assess client and family's commitment to treatment.
Job qualifications and experience required include a master's degree in a mental health field; licensed in the state of Ohio as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or Independently Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (IMFT); excellent written and verbal communication skills with children, parents, and professionals to provide information regarding the children's needs and strengths and the development of appropriate services; ability to function independently as necessary, in handling stressful or emergency situations with clients, ability to provide input to Therapist I and Therapist II and ability to seek clinical supervision when needed; physical abilities required include sufficient mobility, sufficient strength to lift/carry a young child, language skills, ability to utilize emergency physical interventions, and to perform written paperwork (manual or automated); knowledge of, and use of, The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5 or subsequent revisions).
Working conditions and expectations include generally a pleasant physical environment; however, unpleasant conditions may include frequent interruptions, difficulty controlling office temperatures, heavy workload demands and constantly changing regulations and standards; while performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to talk and/or hear, to sit, stand, and walk; use the hands to finger, handle, and/or feel and be able to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, and peripheral vision and the ability to focus visually; some flexibility in scheduling is expected to meet changing SBHI business needs. This may require employees to work different days/hours or stay beyond their normal shift; must be able to work cooperatively and effectively within a team as demonstrated by effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; demonstrated ability in basic computer literacy skills; influenza vaccination is required on an annual basis; physical harm may result from aggressive or physically ill clients. Aggressive client training and adherence to universal precautions helps to minimize the risk of physical harm; as applicable to job duties, valid Ohio driver's license and/or dependable private vehicle is required; as applicable to job duties, Crisis De-escalation training is required on an annual basis; as applicable to job duties, maintain current certification in First Aid and CPR.
