Job Position: Test Technician
Location: Troy, MI 48083
Pay Rate: $$22.00
Environment: Fast-Paced, Hands-On Testing Laboratory
Work Schedule

  • Shift: 1st Shift (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
  • Schedule: Includes weekends. Candidates can choose between two schedule options:
    • Option 1: Friday - Tuesday
    • Option 2: Thursday - Monday
  • Note: Extended hours may be required depending on test schedules.
Role Overview
This is an entry-level, hands-on role shared between two Hydraulic Durability subgroups: Component (chassis and suspension parts) and MAST (interior and exterior parts). Technicians set up and execute testing from start to finish using servo-hydraulic actuators, load cells, accelerometers, and t-slot bed plates/MAST tabletops.
Key Responsibilities
  • Test Setup & Execution: Interpret technical specifications, prepare vehicle components, install parts onto steel/aluminum fixtures, and secure them to testing plates.
  • Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Install and maintain hydraulic equipment, perform basic fixture fabrication/modification, and troubleshoot setup issues.
  • Data & Performance Evaluation: Monitor tests, evaluate article performance using sensors/measurements, and document test procedures.
  • Lab Operations & Confidentiality: Tear down test setups, clear floor and t-slots of oil and dirt, conceal confidential prototype parts, organize test samples, and return tools/parts to designated areas.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Maintain clear communication with supervisors, customers, and other facilities to maintain operating standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Basic mechanical skills and experience using hand and power tools
  • High attention to detail and strong critical thinking/problem-solving skills
  • Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs unassisted and perform physical labor (including kneeling)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word)
Preferred / Bonus Qualifications
  • General understanding of automotive mechanics and parts
  • Knowledge of standard and metric fasteners
  • Experience operating basic fabrication tools (band saw, drill press, etc.)
  • Welding experience
  • Hi-lo / forklift operating experience
