Aviation Test Hardware Design Engineer 1We are seeking a full-time Aviation Test Hardware Design Engineer 1 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing basic test hardware to facilitate factory testing of Garmin products in a team-oriented environment under supervision of management and/or a mentor.Essential Functions:Work closely with Design, Software, and Test Software Engineers to define test requirements and procedures that will be used to confirm that newly produced and in development Garmin products meet minimum performance standardsDesign test circuits and develop/document test hardware in accordance with Garmin's test hardware development methodology and standards in order to test the performance and functionality of newly developed productsPerform basic schematic design and PCB layoutComplete basic troubleshooting and debugging of electronic test circuits and/or systemsDesign test boards and circuit modifications to thoroughly test designsTest circuits designed by other engineers and document the test resultsPartner with more experienced Test Hardware Design Engineers to effectively complete test projectsCommunicate status of work clearly providing visibility to supervisor or mentorApply design test standards and procedures to implement basic test designsSupport production associates in introducing new test hardware and equipment to production teamsPerform maintenance and support activities for test hardware already in use in accordance with Garmin's hardware change management processWork closely with factory, Test Software Engineers, and Design Engineers to fix factory test hardware problems quickly and effectivelyLearn how to use/apply relevant engineering toolsIntegrate, use, and provide test feedback on products in development when possibleThoroughly document work in an organized manner and identify/resolve defects of basic scope using proper engineering tools/techniquesMay be responsible for planning own technical workBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Computer Engineering (BSCE) OR an equivalent combination of education and experienceExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)Must possess basic knowledge and/or experience with test equipment and software tools for electronics design, testing, and documentationDemonstrates ability to use general EE troubleshooting tools (ex.
oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, etc.)Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsMust be positive, detail/quality oriented, organized, analytical, team oriented and a multi-tasker and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and work proactively in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment with minimal supervisionGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
