We are seeking an experienced Test Engineering Manager to lead testing activities for substation control house projects, medium-voltage (MV) switchgear, protection relay panels, and power distribution systems . This role will manage and guide test technicians, maintain project testing schedules, review test plans and reports, and lead troubleshooting and quality improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on switchgear manufacturing and electrical testing experience , along with experience leading test technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Test Technicians supporting electrical and switchgear testing.
- Maintain testing schedules in alignment with project and production schedules.
- Monitor daily testing activities and resolve technical issues affecting project schedules.
- Review project specifications, electrical schematics, and test plans before testing begins.
- Perform and oversee AC/DC functional testing of protection relay panels, MV switchgear, MV breakers, and related electrical equipment.
- Test protective relays, medium-voltage switchgear lineups, breakers, arc-flash systems, and power distribution components .
- Perform testing of communication systems and HMI components on relay panels.
- Support testing of panelboards, automatic transfer switches, fire alarm systems, HVAC/AC systems, and other power distribution equipment.
- Review test reports and testing schematics for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Develop and maintain test procedures, work instructions, testing forms, and equipment lists .
- Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of testing and quality failures.
- Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency, quality, and turnaround time.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures, testing standards, and applicable codes.
- Maintain organized testing documentation and project records.
- Promote a safe, clean, and organized testing environment.
Required Qualifications
- Technical degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related electrical field .
- Strong hands-on experience with switchgear manufacturing and testing .
- Experience performing AC/DC functional testing .
- Hands-on experience with:
- Protection relays
- MV switchgear
- Arc-flash systems
- Previous experience leading or managing Test Technicians .
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of NEC and IEEE standards/codes .
- Knowledge of electrical safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and project specifications .
- NETA Certification is a plus.
