Test Technician IIIWe are seeking a Test Technician III to join our Engineering team supporting robotics and automation hardware testing across North America. This role will be based out of Boston with extensive travel to support hardware functionality testing, test plan execution, and quality validation of robotic and automation systems at scale.Location: Westborough, MAMust be willing to travel up to 50-75% - does not typically travel that frequently. Employee will return on the weekends.
Typical travel is Monday - Friday.Key ResponsibilitiesExecute black box test cases using established SOPs and test plans provided by QAE engineersRun automated test scripts, analyze failures, and gather logs/traces for further debuggingReproduce errant component or system behavior and file valid bugs with relevant detailsInterpret test results and document findings in clearly digestible formats (reports, wikis, dashboards)Manage and maintain lab infrastructure, test equipment, and test environments based on project needsPerform first-pass assessment of test case effectiveness and modify to appropriately cover components or featuresIdentify defect leakage from Beta testing, field complaints, and integration testing sourcesVerify that bugs resolved as "fixed" are truly fixed through structured re-test executionEscalate promptly when scripts fail, tests hit blockers, or actions deviate from SOPsAssist with maintenance and improvement of team test suitesHelp train new QAT hires and provide instruction to associates involved in functional testingRequirements2+ years of hands-on experience in a test, lab, or manufacturing environment (hardware preferred)Able to install and configure software/tools needed to run testsBasic knowledge of testing methodologies: functional, integration, system, and performanceAble to debug, troubleshoot, and gather information required to reproduce system bugsCan understand log file contents and interpret what monitors/indicators communicate about product healthComfortable working with sensors, actuators, and electro-mechanical hardware in a lab settingToolsFamiliarity with basic lab equipment: multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, calipersAbility to follow wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical assembly instructionsBasic data collection proficiency: Excel, data loggers, DAQ systemsExposure to scripting basics (Python preferred) for running automated test scriptsPreferred QualificationsAssociate's degree or technical certification in Engineering Technology, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)Experience in a hardware testing, manufacturing, or quality lab environmentFamiliarity with automation or robotic systems (sensors, actuators, PLCs, HMI)Exposure to DVT, FAT, or SAT testing protocolsBasic understanding of SPC, measurement systems, or calibration proceduresExperience with 3D printers, hand tools, or light fabrication for test setup support
