Engineers are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing protection and control systems. These systems are used to monitor protection systems in power substations.Engineers must have a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles as well as computer skills.
They use this knowledge to install, repair, and maintain protection and control systems that may include microprocessor relays, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, pumps, motors, etc.Duties & ResponsibilitiesInstall, maintain, and troubleshoot protection and control relaying and associated devicesPerform calibration of various types of protection and control relays and devicesAssist in creating and maintaining protection and control documentationAssist assigned project lead with field assignmentsInstall, program, and maintain protection and control relays and devicesParticipate in process hazard analysesMaintain knowledge of current industry trends and practicesRequired Skills and QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent4-year BS Engineering Degree (Electrical Preferred)0-3 years’ experience in Engineering or similar roleFamiliar with Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to read and interpret electrical schematicsWorking knowledge of PLCs and HMIsExperience with AC and DC systemsSuccessful candidate must live within a reasonable commute to the assigned APC office location.
