Test Data EngineerHybrid Onsite (Minneapolis, Dallas, Denver, Brookfield, WI) 12 Month ContractPosition OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Test Data Engineer to support the QA Automation Framework initiative. This role is critical in enabling dynamic, compliant, and scalable test data provisioning across UI, API, backend, and mobile automation layers. The engineer will work closely with teams to integrate with the Test Data Portal (TDP), build synthetic data pools, and implement data abstraction strategies that align with CI/CD pipelines and governance standards.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement dynamic test data provisioning strategies using TDP APIs (account reservation, data conditioning, title mapping).Build and maintain a data abstraction layer that maps test cases to reusable data profiles using YAML/JSON schemas.Develop and manage synthetic fallback data pools for early-stage, smoke, and regression testing.Collaborate with DevOps to configure environment hooks and enable service virtualization for unavailable downstream systems.Automate post-execution data cleanup routines to ensure environment hygiene and compliance.Monitor and mitigate data drift by implementing schema validation and alerting mechanisms.Support tagging and traceability of test data for compliance-critical flows (HIPAA, PCI, SOX).Participate in framework governance activities including weekly syncs, scorecards, and QA CoE reviews.Required Skills & Experience5+ years of experience in test data engineering or data provisioning roles within enterprise QA environments.Strong hands-on experience with TDP or similar Test Data Management platforms.Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Shell, or Java) for data manipulation and automation.Experience with YAML/JSON schema design and integration into CI/CD pipelines.Familiarity with service virtualization tools and environment configuration strategies.Understanding of Robot Framework, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps), and test orchestration.Knowledge of data masking, synthetic data generation, and compliance tagging.Experience working in cross-vendor, multi-team environments with RACI-based governance.Preferred QualificationsExperience in financial services or regulated industries.Exposure to tools like Allure, ReportPortal, and Grafana for observability.Familiarity with test automation tools such as Playwright, Appium, Karate, and RESTinstance.Understanding of RBAC and audit trail implementation for compliance readiness.Success MetricsReduction in test data provisioning time and environment setup delays.Increased test coverage through reusable and abstracted data profiles.Improved test reliability and reduced flakiness due to stable data pools.Compliance adherence through traceable and masked test data flows.
