Assistant/Associate Professor of Art – Charleston Southern University
Summary: The College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Charleston Southern University invites applications for an Instructor/Assistant Professor of Art position beginning August 1, 2026. Charleston Southern seeks candidates for faculty positions who are professing Christians and who are committed to excellence in teaching and service. They should support the goals of a strong liberal arts education and be willing to explore with students the integration of faith and learning.
Responsibilities
- Teach 12 credit hours per semester in undergraduate, two‑dimensional studio art courses and art appreciation.
- Participate in academic advising.
- Serve on committees and engage in college and university service.
- Pursue personal creative work as part of scholarly activity.
Qualifications
- This is a tenure track position.
- Master’s degree in studio art or closely related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in art.
- Evidence of successful teaching experience and status as a working artist.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a specialization in illustration.
