Tenure Track Assistant Professor, Accounting

Position Overview

The Department of Accounting at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Accounting. The role emphasizes inclusive excellence, justice, equity, and transformative learning within a Jesuit and Marymount Catholic context.

Responsibilities

1. Teach undergraduate and graduate accounting courses (typical class size 20‑30 students) as part of a 2‑2‑2‑2 or 2‑2‑2‑3 teaching load over a two‑year cycle.
2. Develop and deliver courses, including first‑year seminars or experiential learning components that advance LMU’s Core Curriculum.
3. Maintain an active scholarly program—research, publications, creative works, and integration of data analytics or AI into scholarship.
4. Advise, mentor, and supervise students in research and academic progress.
5. Serve in departmental, college, and university committees and activities to support the institution’s mission.

Qualifications

1. Doctorate in Accounting or a closely related field from an AACSB‑accredited university, conferred no later than August 15, 2027.
2. Demonstrated record of teaching excellence and a commitment to engaging diverse students.
3. Research interests across all accounting areas with potential for interdisciplinary collaboration.
4. CPA or CMA certification is desirable but not required.
5. Experience teaching in a higher‑education setting, ideally with graduate students.

Appointment Details

Tenure‑track, full‑time, 9‑month academic appointment (August – May). Standard teaching load: 2‑2‑2‑3 over a two‑year cycle (reduced to 2‑2‑2‑2 during the first two years). Salary is paid over 12 months with continuous benefits coverage. The expected salary is approximately $210,000 annually.
