Election Workers (Seasonal)As a Temporary Signature Verification Clerk, Temporary Flagging Clerk, or Curing Clerk, you would assist in facilitating the election process by performing data entry, researching, verifying signatures, and contacting voters. Please see the Job Contributions section below for additional information on the three different positions available. All three are temporary assignments with Maricopa County, and work is performed before, during, and after the election cycle.

The placement and assignment for each position will be based on facilitation needs and the applicant's abilities.The Maricopa County Recorder's Office (MCRO) is responsible for maintaining the Maricopa County voter registration records and for administering over elections in partnership with the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. The MCRO also maintains the permanent public record of over 50 million documents dating back to 1871, including deeds, plat maps, and a variety of other important documents. Our office serves over 2.5 million registered voters as well as 4.4 million residents across Maricopa County.

The MCRO offers a friendly, welcoming, and collaborative environment with opportunities to grow and develop new skills.We are looking forward to you joining what is considered by many to be the country's premier recording office.We require:Experience in data entry from a document into a databaseExperience in keyboard and desktop navigationExperience in researching and gathering informationA high school diploma or GEDOther requirements:Must be registered, or eligible to register, to vote in Arizona by the time of hireMust be able to pass an applicable background screeningMust be able to work the full work assignment, extensive irregular hours, and shifts based on the department's needsMust have a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hireWe also value:One or more years of general office experienceOne or more years of moderate computer use experienceOne or more years of election experienceOne or more years of customer service experienceBilingual in English and SpanishJob Contributions:Signature Verification Clerk:Utilizes Elections software to verify and compare voter signatures on affidavit envelopes with recordsAnalyzes signatures and performs other research, such as contacting voters directly to ensure the efficacy of mail-in ballot processingFlagging Clerk:Conducts research, adds or removes voters' information from the Active Early Voting List, and flags voters for ballotsProvides data entry of voter information utilizing Elections softwareCuring Clerk:Utilizes proprietary Elections software to view signature files and verify voter signatures on affidavit envelopesReaches out to voters primarily via telephone to verify identity on Early Voting affidavit envelopes and explain simple processesPerforms a large volume of phone calls to assist voters and provide conflict resolutionPerforms general office duties, including data entry, email communications to voters, mail sorting, filing, and other duties as neededProvides professional, non-partisan customer service to votersWorking Conditions:Full-time/Temporary/Overtime hours are mandatory during the election cycleThis position requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, the use of upper extremity repetitive motion, the ability to review small font on hard copy or computer screen, and to view a computer screen for an extended periodAlso requires the ability to lift floor-to-shoulder and shoulder-to-waist a minimum of 25 pounds and carry for 100 feet, and to push/pull a minimum of up to 10 pounds for 200 feetSelection Procedure:Consideration will only be given to candidates who submit online applicationsCandidates will be contacted primarily through email and their Workday online application profileMust pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitiveMaricopa County is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants.
