We are Persevere, a national non-profit organization and an affiliate of Vant4ge, providing a coding education program that not only teaches inmates and parolees how to code, but also provides job search and job placement services, instruction in the soft skills necessary for the work environment, life skills education, mentoring support and entrepreneurial training for their own businesses and marketing their coding services to companies nationwide.Real Hope, Valuable Skills, & Meaningful OpportunityThe Teaching Assistant works inside the prison classroom monitoring Persevere students as they work through the Persevere Coding Curriculum under the guidance of a remote instructor.
This is a full-time position with excellent benefits paying up to $45,000 per year. This position requires the ability to pass a reference check, background check and drug screen.Responsibilities:Participate in training as required by assigned facilityServe as the on-site "face" of Persevere at the assigned facilityEnsure the classroom is safe and secure and students adhere to policyEnsure setup of A/V equipment for remote instruction and outside guest speakersTroubleshoot technical issues that may arise and direct issue to appropriate staff memberCommunicate frequently with the Instructor and the Employment SpecialistAssist in presentation of Career Readiness materialsGrade assessments and assignments as required at the direction of the InstructorAssist in the completion of reentry paperwork and provide that to the appropriate staff member as requiredOrganize and facilitate student interviews with all members of the case team prior to enrollmentTake attendanceComplete and submit the Out of Count form per client requirement as neededComplete corporate training on a timely basis.Assist with the creation of and follow critical Standard Operating Procedures and WorkflowsParticipate in cross training staff as requestedOther duties as assignedQualifications:Reliability, the ability to report to work dailyReliable transportation to and from the work siteAbility to work while intermittently sitting and standing for extended periodsAbility to work independently and effectively with a diverse group of studentsProfessional verbal and written communications skillsGood organizational skillsCore Values:Passion for and responsibility to the customer/partnerMust be self-starting, hardworking and inquisitiveLeadership through innovation in everything you doPassion for what you do and being self-reflective to improveRelentless commitment to winPersonal and corporate integrity
