Certified Hearing Screening/Vision Screening Technician

Qualifications: High School Diploma IDPH Certificate: Hearing Screening/Vision Screening Technician IDPH Hearing Instrument Dispenser License preferred Direct Supervisor: Coordinator, Audiological Services

Overview: Provides support to the SEDOL Audiological Services staff, SEDOL Hearing Impaired Program Itinerant staff, SEDOL and District staff, and SEDOL preschool diagnostic teams as directed by the audiologist.

Job Functions:

  • Manage Member District and SEDOL Remote Microphone (RM) Program
  • Maintain database of all district and SEDOL RM systems
  • Track all equipment, warranties, service contracts and loss policies for all district and SEDOL RM systems
  • Assign systems as required per student's IEP or 504
  • Prior to the start of the school year, prepare systems for each student
  • Inform districts of purchasing needs for any new equipment needed, service contracts or loss replacement
  • Troubleshoot, repair and send in equipment for service as required
  • Track all systems returned at the end of each school year and send in units for service to the manufacturer
  • Process loss claims as required
  • Deliver equipment to schools as requested by districts/audiologists/itinerants
  • Manage Hearing Aid Loaner Library
  • Maintain database of available loaner aids
  • Program loaner hearing aids as needed
  • Perform verification of hearing aids and making necessary adjustments based on specifications from the audiologist
  • Keep track of aids loaned to students
  • Send aids for repair when needed
  • Manage Remote Microphone (RM) Home Lending Program
  • Maintain database of all available equipment in the lending program
  • Continue to reach out to districts to include older equipment to the program
  • Assign appropriate units to students and prepare for delivery to family
  • Follow up with family by sending the benefit questionnaire
  • Order supplies needed for maintaining Remote Microphone systems for the students
  • Maintain spreadsheets for accessories billed back to districts
  • Create invoices for reimbursement to SEDOL for supplies
  • Make earmold impressions and process order as needed or requested by audiologist or hearing itinerant
  • Travel to school if necessary
  • Assist audiologists in testing young or difficult-to-test students
  • Provide vision screenings for early childhood evaluations requested by SEDOL or district ECAT teams
  • Assist SEDOL CAVT's at building level screenings if needed

Salary: $-$hour, dependent upon verifiable previous experience.
