Temp Parttime Faculty: Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

Position Summary

UNM-Los Alamos anticipates hiring Temporary Part‑Time faculty to teach online and/or face‑to‑face Emergency Medical Services courses at the 1000 or 2000 level. This continuous recruitment will begin in the Summer 2026 semester. Positions are contingent upon the need of each semester as determined by student enrollment levels and current course offering. Applicants hired from this requisition will be considered for the next requisition.

Anticipated openings include the following subjects: EMT‑Basic, EMT‑Intermediate, Introduction to EMS Systems.

Responsibilities

UNM‑LA instructors are responsible for all aspects of the classes they teach including meeting with students during assigned times, delivering content, developing assignments, grading assignments, reporting grades, and assessing student learning as outlined by the Program Coordinator.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

1. UNM Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Academy Approved EMT/EMS Instructor Coordinator
2. Current New Mexico Emergency Medical Technician Certification (AEMT/Paramedic)
3. Current Basic Life Support (CPR) Card

Preferred Qualifications:

• Five years (5) professional EMS experience
• A demonstrated commitment to cultivating an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities
• Online teaching experience
• Experience teaching EMS/EMT classes
• New Mexico residence

Benefits

Adjunct Faculty at the UNM‑Los Alamos campus are currently compensated at the rate of $1,135.26 per credit hour.
