Temp Parttime Faculty-Anthropology

UNI Department of Anthropology anticipates hiring Adjunct Faculty to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 semesters.

Openings are for Adjuncts who can teach courses in a broad range of subject areas, including but not limited to the following subject areas:

  • Archaeology
  • Evolutionary Anthropology
  • General Anthropology
  • Medical Anthropology
  • Public Archaeology
  • Sociocultural and Linguistic Anthropology

Adjunct faculty may be eligible to receive certain UNM benefits in some cases.

Best Consideration Dates

  • Fall 2026 Full Term semester: July 31, 2026
  • Fall 2026 2nd 8 Weeks or Late Starting (Intercession): September 1, 2026
  • Spring 2027 Full Term semester: November 01, 2026
  • Spring 2027 2nd 8 Weeks: February 1, 2027
  • Summer 2027 semester: March 01, 2027

Responsibilities

  • Deliver course curriculum.
  • Develop and grade assignments.
  • Report grades and assess student learning outcomes as outlined by the Chair of the department.
  • Maintain contact with students during assigned times.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in Anthropology or the subfield for which you are applying.
  • Successful teaching experience in a post‑secondary institution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years professional experience in the specialization or subfield.
  • Successful experience teaching courses using a variety of teaching modalities (Face‑to‑Face, Remote, and Fully Online).
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivating an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the university’s mission to serve local and global communities.
