Substation/Power Field Engineer
This engineer keeps substations running safely and reliably. They go into the field, figure out what equipment needs to be fixed or replaced, scope the work, order the right materials, and coordinate with construction crews to get the job done. They don't design brand-new substations—they focus on upgrading and maintaining what already exists. The role is a mix of office work, field visits, and coordination: reviewing issues, troubleshooting problems, visiting substations, working with crews, and making sure everyone is aligned so equipment replacements happen safely, on schedule, and without surprises.
Must have skills:
- 2 roles: Entry level: 2–5 years acceptable of substation equipment knowledge and field troubleshooting experience & EIT or PE certification
- Experience initiating projects and ordering materials such as: (breakers, switches, transformers, relays, bushings, arresters), perform troubleshooting, develop/adjust designs as needed
- Familiarity with brownfield replacement/maintenance workflows
- Stakeholder coordination and project initiation/materials ordering
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
Preferred:
- Software: SAP, ProjectWise, and basic PLC/logic programming a plus (not required)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred for senior-level candidates
- Minnesota PE strongly preferred
- Wisconsin PE also valued

Max Pay: $70.66 Bill rate: $100.35
Travel: Weekly field visits to substations (1–2x/week) are common; field time counts toward regular hours and can be flexed (e.g., if in the field Monday, work from home Tuesday). Meals, miles & overnight travel - reimbursed & expensed
Work Schedule: 8:00–4:30 or 9:00–5:00
Contract Length: 12 months
