Telecommunications Technician
The Telecommunications Technician will provide technical support for all telephone systems, voicemail systems, related training, and backups of the district phone systems.
Essential Functions:
- Troubleshoot and repair telephone systems, voicemail systems, intercom systems and any other systems related to telecommunications
- Troubleshoot wiring problems for voice and intercom systems
- Install and configure telephone systems, voicemail systems, intercom systems and any other systems related to telecommunications
- Use network administration tools to manage user accounts, perform system backups, etc.
- Must be able to work with all staff members in a professional manner
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively in a professional manner
- Ability to handle multiple problems at over 30 locations while providing the end user with prompt and courteous service
- Ability to install, troubleshoot and repair telephone systems, voicemail systems, intercom systems and any other systems related to telecommunications in a timely manner
- Ability to tolerate a work environment inclusive of dust and heat to be able to lift/carry up to 35 pounds
- Ability to troubleshoot basic problems, (tone out network wires, test connections, etc.) and submit work orders for repair
Basic Requirements:
- Two (2) years' experience in telephone systems, voicemail systems, intercom systems and any other systems related to telecommunications support roles preferred. Equivalent education may be accepted in lieu of experience
- Possess valid driver's license and transportation in order to support multiple locations in the district
Equipment Used:
- Standard office equipment
Work Environment:
- Work in a variety of locations, travel throughout the district, work non-traditional hours which may include evenings and weekends
