Telecom Solution Engineer / Solutions ArchitectLocation: 4 Irving Place, New York, NY 10003 Work Model: Hybrid (2–3 Days Onsite per Week) Interview Process: Video Interview ? In-PersonPosition OverviewSenior Telecom Solution Engineer / Solutions Architect to lead a mission-critical Channel Bank and Legacy Telecom Retirement Initiative.This role combines technical strategy and hands-on execution within a regulated utility environment. The selected candidate will evaluate legacy telecom infrastructure, identify service dependencies, and design and execute a phased migration from TDM-based technologies to modern networking solutions including Ethernet, MPLS, fiber, and wireless.The ideal candidate will serve as both a technical subject matter expert and structured execution leader, coordinating across carriers, contractors, internal teams, and leadership.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Strategy & ArchitectureAssess legacy telecom systems including: Channel Bank, POTS, 56K circuits, T1 circuits.Identify service dependencies, demarcation points, and site constraints.Design phased migration strategies to modern infrastructure: Ethernet, MPLS, Fiber, Wireless solutions.Develop detailed cutover, rollback, and testing plans.Execution & Program LeadershipLead end-to-end execution of telecom retirement efforts from discovery through decommissioning.Coordinate carrier engagement including: Circuit ordering, provisioning, turn-ups, disconnects.Drive collaboration across: Carriers, Contractors, Internal SMEs, Operations teams, Leadership stakeholders.Lead cutover events with real-time technical oversight (onsite or remote).Governance & Operational OversightMaintain execution tracking and risk management using Microsoft 365 tools.Provide regular status reporting to leadership.Ensure compliance with change management and regulatory standards common in utility environments.Drive formal service decommissioning and billing disconnects to realize cost savings.Required QualificationsSenior-level experience in Telecom Engineering or Solutions Architecture.Strong expertise in legacy telecom technologies (TDM, Channel Bank, POTS, T1, 56K).Experience designing and executing migrations to Ethernet, MPLS, fiber, and wireless.Hands-on experience managing telecom carrier coordination and circuit lifecycle.Experience working in regulated environments (utilities preferred).Strong technical leadership and stakeholder coordination skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience in utility industry environments.Strong knowledge of demarcation standards and site-level telecom constraints.Proven experience leading structured decommissioning initiatives.Excellent documentation and execution tracking skills.Ideal Candidate ProfileHands-on technical SME with architecture depth.Strong execution discipline and structured delivery approach.Comfortable leading live cutover events.Strong communicator capable of engaging technical and executive stakeholders.Local to NY/NJ and comfortable with hybrid onsite expectations.
