About the Role
GDMUX is hiring Fiber Optic Network Infrastructure Field Installation Technicians to join our growing field services team. In this role, you'll install and support critical telecom equipment - primarily Optical Add/Drop Multiplexers (OADM) and amplifier nodes - that keeps fiber optic backbone networks running across the country.
If you have hands-on experience with Ciena, Nokia, or Infinera hardware, you'll be a top candidate for this position.

What You'll Do
Install telecom network infrastructure equipment, including system cabling (DC power, ground, DS3, and fiber optic frames/chassis/components)
Deliver installation quality that exceeds industry standards, and conduct self-audits on completed work
Complete inventory tracking, submit status reports, and follow up on open items daily
Travel to customer sites throughout the United States as project needs require
Core Responsibilities
Provide and use your own basic hand tools as required for the job
Perform high-craftsmanship installation work - securing equipment and running/terminating system cabling at equipment and fuse/breaker panels
Interpret project engineering documentation with precision, including equipment placement, cable routing, and label creation for origination/termination points
Follow proper ESD (electrostatic discharge) handling procedures for equipment and circuit packs
Manage and control installation materials and equipment for each project
Communicate proactively with Project Management (internal and customer-facing) on daily activity status
Respond quickly and clearly to equipment issues, material shortages, or customer requests
Maintain "good housekeeping" standards while working on customer premises
Stay current on industry installation and quality standards
Deliver excellent customer service on every project
Multitask efficiently across preparation, execution, and completion to minimize rework
Coordinate with the Materials Coordinator to ensure accurate, efficient shipping of project materials
Manage travel and lodging expenses responsibly, keeping accurate receipts for weekly timesheet submission
Submit timesheets electronically by the designated weekly deadline.
What You Bring
Working knowledge of optical and data transport systems
Familiarity with telecom industry installation quality standards
Strong customer service instincts, especially in live customer-facing environments
Comfort working in or near live, functioning networks
Sharp problem-solving skills and the ability to stay effective in a fast-paced technical environment
An analytical, detail-oriented, flexible, and decisive approach to your work
Ability to read and interpret project documentation accurately
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask efficiently
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio, and Adobe Reader
Brady labeling experience is a plus
Education & Experience
1-3 years of related field installation experience
Hands-on experience with Ciena, Nokia, or Infinera hardware strongly preferred
Associate's degree in Telecommunications from an accredited university is a plus

Pay: hourly rate commensurate with experience, training/certifications. Overtime-eligible based on project needs
