Classroom TeacherProvides support to the instructional process with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas. This includes developing lesson plans and delivering group and/or individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines, collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues. Additionally, the classroom teacher responds to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Understands and administers the curriculum guides of the District as based on state and common core standardsDevelops lesson plans and instructional materials based on district curriculum guides, standards, and expectations; includes emergency plans in the case of absence and/or illnessEstablishes and communicates well-defined objectives for each lesson, including relevant projects and activitiesTranslates lesson plans into learning experiences that reflect research-based instructional strategies, including a variety of instructional strategies such as inquiries, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc.

and addresses the individual needs, interests, abilities, and maturity levels of the studentsCommunicates and plans with other members of the staff in the delivery of meaningful instruction for shared students who participate in other programs such as special education programs, CTE, ELL, etc.Attends staff meetings and district in-service programs; serves on curriculum and other school committees as requested and ableIs responsible for discharging instructional and non-instructional school-related activities in a thorough and timely mannerSupervises, evaluates, and provides work assignments to assigned instructional assistants and/or student teachers; works collaboratively with teachers throughout the District; may be responsible for the evaluation and supervision of classified staffActs as a supportive and contributing member of the professional staff by participating in group decision making, and contributes to the development of a positive, cooperative educational environmentParticipates in professional development activities to enhance professional skills and maintain Arizona certificationEvaluates, provides, and maintains accurate reports and records of individual student progress on a regular basis; this includes accurate attendance records, grade reports, and special program requirementsIdentifies and refers unusual student behavior to the appropriate specialistsReports any student injury or illness or injury to self on school grounds or at school events to the site nurse and principalEnforces and follows the school and district approved discipline planIs responsible for the supervision of students at all times on school grounds or at school eventsAdvises administration in accordance with established policies and completes all required forms accurately and in a timely manner.Accounts and maintains inventory for classroom, school and district property as requiredAdvises administration of needed repairs, replacements and/or unsafe building conditions as soon as they occurCommunicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student educational needs and progressInterprets and communicates school policies and programs to students and parentsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of strategies and materials for the education of childrenAbility to review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulationsAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general publicKnowledge of data usage, including collection, analysis, interpretation, and reportingAbility to communicate effectively using all forms of communication; Ability to maintain confidentialityProduce accurate work and complete assignments with minimal supervisionAbility to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situationsAbility to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community membersKnowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policiesAbility to handle confrontation and conflictEducation & Experience:Bachelor's Degree or higherValid Arizona Teacher certificate with Required EndorsementsAZ IVP fingerprint clearance card
