The Technology Consultant develops the design and leads consulting efforts for technology systems on assigned projects, including structured cabling, access control, video surveillance, nurse call, audiovisual, and other low‑voltage communications systems. The role manages projects through scoping, pricing, staffing, and ensures production on time, within budget, and with high technical quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform project management duties, establishing and managing the project plan, including team man‑hour budgets, the project schedule, and QA/QC.
- Develop design approaches and concepts and seek assistance from senior technical staff as needed.
- Conduct planning and vision‑casting meetings to determine scope, current and future needs, process and workflow, and client expectations.
- Review shop drawings, record changes, and provide feedback to designers based on project specifications.
- Assist in communication with owners, architects, and contractors as needed.
- Conduct site visits during construction to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications, owner expectations, and building codes.
- Prepare and maintain project budgets.
- Participate in professional organizations and/or client groups to enhance the firm’s technical reputation and image.
- Keep up with industry trends and changes through continued self‑education and training.
- Assist Technology Associates in understanding company technical policies and procedures during execution of a project.
- Perform activities inside and outside the office consistent with ethical engineering standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a relevant discipline AND five years of applicable experience, or eight years of direct experience in the design, application, and/or administration of low‑voltage systems.
- Experience working with architects and thorough knowledge of the architectural design phases.
- Must have security clearance.
- Healthcare construction experience is recommended.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Knowledge of low‑voltage systems such as nurse call, audiovisual, public address, security, phone systems, etc.
- Knowledge of NEC, NESC, NFPA, FGI, BiCSITDMM, and other industry‑related codes and standards.
