The Technology Business Engagement Manager is a senior IT leader who partners with Sales, Marketing, and Specialty Products Division (SPD) teams across multiple geographies. The role builds strategic relationships, aligns business needs with IT solutions, and identifies opportunities that deliver measurable value. This individual develops business cases, secures executive support, builds cross-functional alignment, and obtains the funding and resources needed to move key initiatives forward.
Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the overall customer satisfaction for specific business area(s) and work within the IT organization to manage the full value chain of IT activities and service level commitments on behalf of their business partners (sales, marketing, and SPD)
- Aligns IT strategy to business area strategy engages in the business area’s strategic planning, conducts needs analysis and business risk assessments, and engages the IT customer (business partners – sales, marketing, SPD) in the corporate IT strategic planning process. Negotiates the needs of multiple users or business areas.
- Manages the functional portfolio of IT investments to deliver optimal business value to the organization aligned with enterprise architecture and strategy
- Projects: frames the problem, business solution, outcome, rationale. Manages business change and the formation of the internal and external teams.
- Decisions: Business Capabilities (w/Business), Solution Fits Business Needs (with IT: Architect, Business Analysts, and Delivery Manager)
- Builds and maintains relationships with business leadership partners and serves as a trusted advisor to business leadership on technology, information and process needs and activities.
- Assists in creating the functional portfolio of IT investments to deliver optimal business value to the organization aligned with the IT architecture and strategy and ensures that the functional area is appropriately reflected in the global IT budget.
- Creates and maintains strong relationships with IT partners (VP, Director and Manager levels) and IT peers (e.g. Project Management Office, Delivery, etc.), drives collaboration between IT and the business and serves as the IT point of contact for specific business areas.
- Represents and promotes IT capabilities, identifies specific business and technology opportunities to enable the customer’s business (IT, business process improvement, innovative process reengineering) and collaborates with the IT business partners to define the business value of such opportunities.
- Understands the IT business partner’s business, company direction, emerging technologies, and how competitors and best-in-class companies use technologies and brings creative ideas to CHD on how to leverage technology to a greater extent.
- Promotes business area understanding and adoption of IT processes/tools and standards
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent work experience; graduate degree preferred
- 10+ years of Information Technology or relevant industry experience, managing information related technologies, resources and projects, including teams with direct reports ideally supporting Marketing & Sales in a matrixed organization.
- Articulate, confident, and fluent communicator with experience engaging senior leaders, direct reports, business partners, and vendors to drive collaboration, efficiency, and service excellence.
- Experience in the following areas/disciplines: Capability Roadmap Development, IT project management, Business Case Development, Vendor Management, Portfolio Management, Strategic Planning
- Able to demonstrate an ability to provide innovative solutions using development tools and processes.

- Project Commitment Packet (this packet is the “contract” for the project, scope, costs, benefits, architecture, high level timeline, resources)
- Project Resource Identification (work with vendors to contract IT resourcing, working with Internal CHD to identify resources from IT/Business and to align on bandwidth, roles, and responsibilities)
- Project Contracts (Vendor NDAs, SOWs, Licensing Order Forms, etc.) (collaborate with Delivery Team and Procurement)
- Collaborate with IT Finance on ROI Schedules / Investment Summaries and incorporation into business case
- Capital Expense Request (documentation and stewardship through the process)

- Apptio (Financial Management tool) setup and maintenance – for both project costs and ongoing costs
