POSITION SUMMARY
The Technologist Assistant (MRI) at Borland Groover plays an essential role in supporting the daily operations of the MRI department by ensuring efficient patient flow, ensure all MRI safety guidelines are followed, and other clinical support duties. This position assists the MRI Technologist by coordinating patient readiness, patient preparation, performing venipuncture for contrast administration, facilitating room turnover, and carrying out other clinical support responsibilities.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Technologist Assistant (MRI) at Borland Groover plays an essential role in supporting the daily operations of the MRI department by ensuring efficient patient flow, ensure all MRI safety guidelines are followed, and other clinical support duties. This position assists the MRI Technologist by coordinating patient readiness, patient preparation, performing venipuncture for contrast administration, facilitating room turnover, and carrying out other clinical support responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Verify patient identity using established patient identification protocols prior to MRI examinations.
- Welcome and escort consented MRI patients to the dressing room to lock up belongings and review instructions for the MRI exam.
- Obtain and review MRI safety screening forms for completeness and notify the MRI technologist of any concerns or contraindications.
- Perform IV insertion for contrast-enhanced MRI examinations in accordance with departmental policies and scope of practice.
- Assist MRI technologists with patient positioning to ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Monitor patients before and after administration of contrast as directed by the MRI technologist.
- Ensure all MRI safety guidelines are followed by patients, visitors, and staff entering Zone 3 and Zone 4.
- Communicate effectively with patients to ease anxiety and create a warm and comfortable environment upon check in.
- Assist with maintaining efficient patient flow throughout the MRI department.
- Prepare MRI dressing room and MRI suite by stocking supplies, sanitizing equipment, and ensuring rooms are ready for patient focused care.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of MRI changing areas, MRI suite, and support space in accordance with infection prevention standards.
- Assist with resolving workflow issues to maximize scheduling delays.
- Help gather patient charts and related documentation for upcoming MRI appointments.

- Competency in Microsoft Office, EMR, and other medical software.
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and staff both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle patient issues tactfully and professionally.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years of direct patient care experience
- Demonstrate experience and proficiency with venipuncture.
- Must possess BLS certification or have the ability to obtain certification within 90 days.
- Strong patient assessment and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced imaging environment
- Previous experience as a TA, Medical Assistant (IV certification), Emergency Medical Technician, or in another healthcare role requiring frequent venipuncture placements.
- Experience in MRI or other imaging departments.
- Prior knowledge of EMR systems and patient preparation for MRI procedures.
