Technician AssistantReports To: Computer TechnicianBeginning Date: Open Until FilledKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:General knowledge of computersGeneral knowledge of related information technology devicesGeneral knowledge of software packagesAbility to communicate with users to determine the nature of problemsAbility to assist users with application deploymentAbility to train teachers in the use of hardware and non-instructional softwareStrong organizational skillsAbility to work at any school facility within the countyAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationshipsAbility to solve independently most minor problemsEducation and Training:Graduation from high school and three years of work related experience in the use of computing and information technology resourcesKnowledge of Microsoft Office applications and operating system utilitiesTerm of Employment: 12 monthsSalary: Salary Grade 61FLSA Status: Non-ExemptPhysical Requirements:Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for prolonged periods of timeAbility to bend, stoop, carry, push, or pullRequires ability to transport technology and equipmentMust be able to lift up to 25 pounds routinely and 50 pounds occasionallyMust be able to visually and auditorily effectively communicate with staff and studentsMust be able to drive to variety of school sitesPerformance Responsibilities:Provides tier one support for all computers, and software within the school districtPerforms upgrades to hardware and software applications as identified by senior level IT staffUses a work-order tracking system for routine repair and maintenance of equipmentRefers complex problems to higher level technical supportMaintains site licenses and user administration for specified software within the assigned facilitiesMaintains inventory control procedures for technology equipment within the assigned facilitiesAttends classes and seminars to enhance knowledge of equipment, operating systems, and application softwarePerforms any other work assignments, as assignedOnslow County Schools does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability or age in its programs and activities.
