Technical Writer Level 2Koniag Government Services company is seeking a Technical Writer Level 2 to support our government customer in Washington, DC. Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Govt. Security Clearance.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise documentation.

This position requires someone who can effectively organize information and produce high-quality technical materials according to standardized formats and requirements. Ability to obtain a Clearance to support KGS and our government customer is required.Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to: The Technical Writer Level 2 will be responsible for revising and creating standardized technical documentation including reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications. Principal responsibilities include:Receive assignments and technical information from supervisors or senior writers to produce clear, concise documentationReview notes, manuals, and observe operational activities to verify and expand upon provided procedures and detailsAccess and research manufacturers' catalogs, drawings, and technical data related to equipment operation, maintenance, and servicingReview blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and accurately document technology, operating procedures, and production sequencesOrganize material according to established standards for order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminologyMaintain records and files of work and revisionsSelect appropriate visual elements such as photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate materialsAssist in layout of materials for publication and coordinate typing, duplication, and distributionDraft speeches, articles, and public or employee relations releases as neededCreate documentation regarding work methods and procedures following standardized formatsCollaborate with subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy in all documentationRequirements:Exceptional written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projectsAbility to translate complex technical information into clear, user-friendly documentationProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)Experience with documentation tools and content management systemsDetail-oriented with strong editing and proofreading skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamExperience creating documentation that adheres to specific style guides and standardsAbility to gather information through interviews, research, and observationKnowledge of document formatting, layout, and design principlesAbility to obtain clearanceDesired Skills and Competencies:Experience working in a federal government environmentFamiliarity with government documentation requirements and standardsExperience with Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)Knowledge of XML, HTML, or other markup languagesExperience with technical illustration toolsExperience writing procedures and documentation for IT systems or softwareKnowledge of section 508 compliance requirements for documentationExperience with collaborative authoring toolsBackground in a technical field (IT, engineering, etc.)Project management experienceEducation:Bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college in English, Journalism, Communications, Technical Writing, or related fieldWork Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:2 – 4 years' experience in the field or a related area.Experience with SCA (Service Contract Act) contracts preferredOur Equal Employment Opportunity Policy The company is an equal opportunity employer.
