Job # ET24090 | Job Title: Technical Services Field Technician | Office Location: Roanoke, VA; Houston or Dallas, TX; Jacksonville, Orlando or Tampa, FL; Phoenix, AZ (Preferred).
Business Function/Department: Energy & Infrastructure Solutions / Technical Services. Employment type: Full-time. Seniority level: Mid-Senior level. This role provides warranty support for utility-scale solar PV inverters, variable frequency drives, power distribution, power electronics and rotating machine products to clients and field personnel.
Responsibilities
- Analyze client equipment failures using diagnostics tools to resolve issues
- Provide technical support to clients and other engineers, when not in the field
- Perform commissioning, installations, quality inspections, and performance testing of photovoltaic inverter systems to meet design performance criteria
- Troubleshoot, isolate issues, repair and/or replace defective components
- Report to the factory any errors or deficiencies in hardware, software or system design discovered from consultations with clients and Company engineers; implement corrective actions outlined in Field Change Notices as assigned
- Update client relationship management (CRM) tool with appropriate case information to ensure timely and accurate reports
- Prepare Service Advices and issue to clients and engineers as necessary
- Write and/or review field reports, and issue to clients as requested
- Acquire and maintain current safety qualifications appropriate to the assigned tasks and comply with Company and client safety requirements and good safety practices
- Process warranty replacements, expediting when necessary
- Investigate suggested field changes, report problems and recommend solutions to parent company as necessary

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree with concentration on electrical, mechanical, mechatronics engineering or related field, or equivalent via education and/or work experience
- Knowledge of power conversion and distribution transformers
- Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
- Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
- Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook
- Availability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 75%, occasionally with limited notice
- Ability to work in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain & snow
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years' field engineering experience with Utility Scale Solar PV Inverters, Variable frequency drives, power distribution, power electronic and rotating machine products
- Controls engineering experience
- Low voltage drive engineering experience
- Photovoltaic Inverter power generation experience
- PPC and battery storage experience
