Position Overview

Adecco Permanent Recruitment is partnering with an established industrial organization to identify a Technical Service Representative for a direct-hire opportunity in the western Chicago suburbs.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Field Service Technician, Equipment Mechanic, or Maintenance Technician looking to transition into a different working environment while remaining in a highly technical, mechanical field.

Rather than spending the majority of the day performing physical repairs in the field or shop, this position allows an experienced technical professional to leverage their knowledge of equipment diagnostics, mechanical systems, hydraulics, and electrical troubleshooting in a customer-focused technical support role.

The successful candidate will serve as a technical resource for customers and internal teams, helping diagnose equipment issues, recommend solutions, and support service operations. This is an excellent opportunity to apply years of hands-on technical experience in a different capacity without stepping away from the technical aspects of the profession.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance to customers regarding equipment operation, maintenance, performance, and repair.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment concerns and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Assist customers and service technicians remotely with diagnosing equipment issues and identifying practical repair solutions.
  • Review technical documentation, equipment diagrams, schematics, and service manuals to support effective problem resolution.
  • Communicate troubleshooting procedures and repair recommendations clearly to customers and service personnel.
  • Evaluate equipment performance issues and determine appropriate next steps.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and technical service teams to resolve complex equipment concerns.
  • Support technical training, product-related initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Assist with coordinating service and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate customer service documentation and technical reports.
  • Build strong customer relationships through responsive, knowledgeable technical support.
  • Participate in occasional business-related travel as required.

Qualifications

  • Technical diploma, vocational education, or equivalent practical experience in equipment maintenance, repair, or technical service.
  • Three or more years of relevant technical service, equipment maintenance, field service, or customer support experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting experience.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and equipment documentation.
  • Experience diagnosing equipment problems and recommending effective repair solutions.
  • Strong verbal communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to explain technical information to customers and service personnel.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and computerized service documentation systems.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally based on business needs.
