Responsibilities
- Developing the US marketplace for the company’s water treatment business.
- Challenging and vetting existing agents and representatives, and identifying and recruiting new, more effective ones.
- Selling to distributors, agents, representatives, municipalities, industrial engineering firms and government bodies.
- Focusing on dehydration equipment initially, but responsible for all product offerings within the water treatment area.
- Engaging in both immediate problem‑solving sales (e.g., mobile rental units) and strategic long‑term projects.
- Growing the industrial side of the business.
- Managing the sales network and territory, with a strong emphasis on individual sales performance rather than managing a team of direct reports initially.
Qualifications
- Professional Salesperson: Excellent sales skills, with a proven track record of closing deals and earning commissions.
- Water Business Expertise: In-depth understanding of the water treatment business, including municipal and industrial sectors.
- Relationship Management: Ability to sell to and work effectively with various stakeholders, including distributors, agents, representatives, municipalities, industrial engineering firms, and government bodies.
- Autonomy and Drive: Self‑motivated, aggressive, and capable of operating independently to drive business and manage a territory.
- Product Knowledge: Ability to understand and articulate the unique value proposition of company’s dehydration equipment (e.g., fully automated, low maintenance, low energy consumption, scalability).
- Strategic Influence: Capable of influencing specifications to ensure they are open to company’s products.
- Maturity: Possessing a certain level of maturity to critically evaluate and potentially replace underperforming representatives.
Requirements
- Candidates with 5‑10+ years of experience in the water, wastewater, or environmental industry.
- Individuals who have spent a significant portion of their career on the municipal side, with industrial experience being a strong asset.
- Professionals who are experienced in selling to distributors, agents, representatives, municipalities, and industrial engineering firms.
- Candidates who have a proven track record of being “boots on the ground” salespeople, actively driving sales and developing territories.
- Individuals with a strong understanding of the water business and its specific challenges and opportunities.
- Able to travel 40‑50% within territory.
The salary for this position is $100K – 130K, plus commissions (estimated at $50k), and full benefits.
