Applications EngineerThe Applications Engineer (AE) supports Amphenol-CDI Engineering, Marketing and Sales teams to provide technical support for new and existing customers in the assigned Region. The AE develops and maintains relations with customer's design and manufacturing engineers by understanding problems and providing solutions via presentations, proposals, quotations, and samples. The AE analyzes opportunities and makes recommendations to drive sales growth and sustainment by supporting customer purchasing and planning organizations.Essential Job Functions:Engage customer base in engineering design phase for new product developmentPerforms technical review of customer specificationsMakes recommendations for the optimal Amphenol-CDI product solution to meet customer requirementsAssesses cost impact of customer requirements, changes to develop cost estimatesCreates customer-facing configuration and specification drawings in support of proposalsTravel to customer sites as needed to support existing business and win new opportunitiesInterprets customer drawings, specifications, and standards to develop product designsMonitor industry / market trends and requirements to provide input into new product innovations and anticipated customer demandsWork with Marketing to identify product and pricing to compete in territoryCommunicates design concerns, drawing errors, interpretation issues, and manufacturability enhancements to Outside Sales and customer technical contacts as necessary. Must be able to fully understand Amphenol-CDI production capabilities and data requirements and must be able to communicate professionallyProvides support to Amphenol-CDI Manufacturing Engineering to develop processes as needed to support customer requirementsIn support of Marketing, creates customer-facing materials for use in advertisements, literature and websitesProvides quick response and resolution to customer technical issues and problems involving industry standards, specifications, design assistance, production capabilities, and material requirementsPerforms other duties as required to meet the goals and objectives of the companyQualifications:B.S.

in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalentThe ideal candidate will have experience in RF interconnects and/or Filter Connector Products3-5 years of experience in a similar positionBackground in aerospace, defense, or cable assembly industries favored.Language Requirements:Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.Conversational in any other language is a plus.Job Skills:Ability to be self-managed, fast and independent learnerStrong customer focus and interaction – strong interpersonal relationship/customer skillsExceptional communication skills (written and verbal) with emphasis on active listening and technical documentationAbility to solve practical problems, Innovative and troubleshooting skillsAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from other employees, managers, or customersAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formBroad engineering abilities and understanding of materials and manufacturing processesAble to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulationsAbility to write technical protocols and reportsProficient with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Solid-works or similar CAD packageWire, cable, RF and Microwave experience highly beneficialPhysical Demands:As part of their job duties, the employee must sit for lengthy periods while operating a computer. They frequently use their hands to type, handle objects, and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds. This role requires lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, reaching at or below shoulder level, and keyboarding.

Therefore, candidates must qualify as US Persons, defined as US Citizens or Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders).Travel:Approximately 30% to 50% of travel is expected.Salary Information:According to several states' laws, this position's salary range falls between $90,000 and $125,000 annually. However, this salary information is merely a general guideline. When extending an offer, Amphenol CDI considers various factors such as the position's responsibilities, scope of work, candidate's work experience, education/training, essential skills, internal pay equity, and market considerations.
