Technical Manager | Richland, WA
StaffSource is hiring a Technical Manager for a radioactive and mixed waste treatment facility in Richland, Washington. This is a direct hire, salaried exempt role reporting to the General Manager and sitting on the site’s senior leadership team.
What you’ll do
- Manage Waste Acceptance, Special Projects, Lab Activities (including treatment recipe development and analytical review), Customer Services, and Project Management, both on and offsite
- Make sure all waste shipped for disposal meets the receiving site’s Waste Acceptance Criteria
- Support inspection and sampling of incoming waste streams for profile verification
- Provide technical direction to operations and to outside customers, and support Sales with technical input and cost proposals
- Support permit and license renewals
- Write and maintain SOPs for your areas
- Help design and build a new laboratory, including instrumentation, infrastructure, and procedures
- Help hire, train, and keep laboratory staff
- Look for ways to improve facility throughput and develop new processes
What we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent mix of education and experience
- 10 years of facility operations experience
- Working knowledge of RCRA, TSCA, NRC, and DOT regulations
- Familiarity with Waste Acceptance requirements at EnergySolutions, Waste Control Specialists, US Ecology, Hanford, and NTS
- Radiation Worker qualified
- 40 hour Hazardous Materials (HAZWOPER) training
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Comfortable in MS Office, data tracking, and importing and exporting data
