Technical ManagerThe Technical Manager is responsible for overseeing facility operations, maintenance, and construction projects across multiple sites. This position manages preventive maintenance schedules, work order systems, and vendor relationships to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant facility performance, as well as acts as project manager for renovations and capital improvements, tracking budgets, timelines, and contractor work. This role supports regulatory compliance, life safety systems, and risk management processes and participates in departmental planning, emergency response, and long-term facilities planning.Essential FunctionsFacilities Maintenance & OperationsOversee maintenance and repairs across multiple locations, including offices, clinics, residences, and theatresManage and maintain the work order system (CMMS), ensuring timely response, resolution, and documentation of requestsCreate and implement preventive maintenance schedules to ensure proper equipment function and facility performanceOrder parts, troubleshoot, and support repairs as needed in coordination with the Property TeamConduct regular facility walkthroughs to assess and address safety and technical issuesProject & Construction ManagementServe as project manager for facility-related renovations and construction projectsGather and document project requirements, obtain bids and quotes, and vet contractorsTrack project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within scopeAnalyze project finances, reconcile variances, and maintain related documentation including contracts and warrantiesAssist in developing and implementing a long-term maintenance and capital improvement planVendor & Contractor CoordinationSchedule and oversee work performed by external vendors and contractorsCoordinate internal communication, on-site logistics, and verification of completed workMaintain records of vendor performance, contracts, and bid evaluations to support decision-makingSafety, Compliance, & Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with building codes, permitting requirements, and regulatory standardsMonitor, test, and document Life Safety and Security Systems across all facilitiesCollaborate on the investigation and reporting of incidents in alignment with OSHA, Workers' Compensation, and internal safety protocolsServe as a point of contact for inspections and ensure all required documentation is up to date and accessibleAdministrative & Departmental SupportApply for and maintain required permitsParticipate in departmental planning meetings, training, and professional development activitiesRespond to emergencies in an on-call capacity, coordinating with vendors and internal teamsPerform additional duties to support departmental and organizational objectivesQualifications5 years of experience in contractor management, property repair, and commercial building troubleshootingAn adaptable mindset focused on providing answers and solutions to difficult problemsWorking knowledge of general building management, maintenance, and equipment repair including, but not limited, to electrical, HVAC equipment and controls, plumbing, and various other tradesStrong organizational skills, including superior written and verbal communication skillsAbility to handle a heavy workload of many diverse requests calmly and professionallyAbility to work cooperatively with many departments, clients, and other agency staff membersProficiency with MS Office, Work Management System, HVAC control systems, and the aptitude to learn other software programsAccess to reliable transportation and the ability to be insuredAbility to make decisions independently and quickly in emergenciesFamiliarity with building mechanical and electrical systems and drawingsStrong organizational and communication skillsAbility to work cooperatively with many departments, clients and other agency staff membersAvailable to be on-call for scheduled and emergency situations 24-7The Los Angeles LGBT Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to fostering diversity within its staff.
