Technical Manager - CablingJob Title: Technical Manager - CablingReporting to: BU General ManagerRole purpose: To support the delivery of EHV cable projects working with the business units to support a full turnkey delivery or directly for a client on cable only projects.Responsibilities & Duties:Input into all engineering activities at tender and delivery stagesIdentify temporary works and other engineering aspects and advise on the appropriate resources.Liaise with customersProvide point of reference contact for customers, business units & partnersSupport the implementation of health, safety, environment and quality requirements appropriate for each customer and contractManage high level relationships with consulting engineers & in-house engineering teams including the effective implementation of design agreements and design management activityEnsure the most appropriate design resources for tender and delivery activities are engaged.Drive innovation culture, improvement activity, knowledgeEnsure high level compliance with CDM regulationsLead and support teams to win work, including review and input into tenders, including attending interviews and briefing sessions, and making presentations to customers and other stakeholdersSupport bid managers & estimators to establish highest quality submissionsLead, where necessary and provide support to BUGM's and projects managers for the effective mobilisation of new contracts including setting up of health and safety, quality, and environmental plansIdentify and support the selection of sub contractors and suppliers.Responsible for EHV Cable Technicians, coordination of workload, forward planning and training & development.Carry out audits and produce reports as requiredEnsure that all compliance records including training & competence are maintained and updatedClosely liaise with other business units for best practice and lessons learntLead, assist and support the cabling team with compliance against all necessary asset owner requirements in relation to EHV cables.Support the development of our next generation of cabling project managers, engineers and technicians.Lead the development of our cabling institute training and development programme(s).Qualifications and Training:Educated to degree level or equivalent in relevant fieldChartered Engineer or similar and participation in affiliated bodies for example the IET, Institution of Civil Engineers.Previous senior level involvement in the provision of design management services for engineering design and construction in the Energy Transmission SectorSignificant senior level involvement in large project tender teams including price and quality adjudicated bidsAn understanding of commercial aspects including typical terms and conditions and procurement modelsExperienced in the management, surveillance and audit of assurance regimesExperience of managing design process in tender or contract environmentExperience with working in joint ventures and alliances or other collaborative workingKey interfaces:Managing DirectorBusiness Unit General ManagersClient RepresentativesProject ManagersPerson Specification:Self-driven, results orientated with a positive outlookGood management skills, with the ability to motivate employees to achieve high standard of complianceExcellent organizational, planning and time management skills; able to manage projects simultaneously without compromising on standards and qualitySound knowledge of the Energy Transmission IndustryAbility to ensure standards and specifications are metAbility to work with senior management to set project and operational targetsExcellent negotiation and diplomacy skills with the ability to make a sound business case to senior stakeholdersValues:In line with Omexom's values, the jobholder must have the following qualities:Team Spirit & Generosity – able to work effectively within and contribute to the Omexom team to deliver results, provide support and drive performance.Trust and Empowerment – enjoy managing their responsibilities and time to ensure work is completed efficiently and professionally.Integrity and Responsibility – enjoy taking responsibility for their duties and managing these effectively to ensure efficient high quality results.Innovation & Entrepreneurship – continually strive to improve processes and introduce new initiatives to improve efficiency.
