Responsibilities
- Lead prototyping and feasibility activities for medical-device and combination-product programs
- Develop and evaluate product concepts, prototypes, designs, and technical solutions
- Collaborate with electrical, software, systems, human factors, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing teams
- Plan, execute, and document feasibility studies and prototype evaluations with design verification and validation
- Resolve technical challenges and assess impact of design decisions on product requirements and regulatory submissions
Requirements
- BS degree with 14+ years of experience, or MS with 12+ years, or PhD with 6+ years in relevant discipline
- Demonstrated expertise in mechanical design, plastic parts, injection molding, and tolerance analysis
- Knowledge of design controls, ISO 14971, ISO 13485, and DHF documentation
- Track record as principal investigator generating original technical ideas and development strategies
- Experience authoring publications, regulatory documents, or patents; presenting at scientific conferences
- Ability to function as recognized expert and influence cross-functional decisions without direct authority
