Technical Editor (Journeyman)JRAD is seeking candidates for an upcoming Technical Editor (Journeyman) position supporting the U.S. Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC), Detachment 6 (DET 6) – Fighter Test Services (FTS). This position is located at Nellis AFB, NV.The Technical Editor (Journeyman) provides editorial, documentation, and communication support for operational test and evaluation (OT&E) activities under the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC) Detachment 6 Fighter Test Services contract.Supports the preparation, review, and editing of technical documents, reports, and briefings derived from test planning, execution, and analysis activities.
Ensures clarity, consistency, accuracy, and compliance with government standards, formatting requirements, and publication guidelines.Works independently on assigned tasks and collaborates with engineers, analysts, and program personnel to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and professional documentation suitable for technical and executive audiences.Roles/Responsibilities:Edit and review technical documents, including test plans, test reports, evaluation summaries, briefings, and supporting materials for clarity, grammar, formatting, and consistencyEnsure all documentation complies with applicable government style guides, templates, and publication standardsCollaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, analysts, and program personnel to understand technical content and ensure accurate representation in written materialsStandardize terminology, formatting, and document structure across deliverablesSupport development and maintenance of document templates, style guides, and editorial standardsAssist in preparing executive-level briefings and presentation materialsVerify accuracy of data presentation, tables, figures, and references within technical documentsPerform quality assurance reviews of deliverables prior to submission to government stakeholdersManage document version control, configuration management, and document tracking processesEnsure timely completion and delivery of documentation products in accordance with contract schedulesSupport coordination of document reviews, comment adjudication, and revision cyclesMaintain compliance with security requirements, including proper handling of classified and sensitive informationRequired Skills and Education:Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field3 or more years of relevant professional experience in technical editing, technical writing, or documentation supportExperience supporting operational test and evaluation (OT&E) activities within AFOTEC or similar test organizationsFamiliarity with fighter aircraft systems (e.g., F-35, F-16, F-15, F-22) and air combat operationsExperience preparing executive-level briefings and reportsExperience working in classified environments or handling sensitive informationFamiliarity with the following tools and technologies: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); document management and collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint or equivalent); version control and document tracking systems; and style guide and formatting toolsExperience editing and reviewing technical documentation for clarity, accuracy, and compliance with established standardsExperience working with technical subject matter and translating complex information into clear written contentExperience applying style guides, templates, and formatting standardsExperience supporting document development, review cycles, and configuration management processesExperience working in multidisciplinary teams supporting technical or operational programsSecurity Clearance:Top Secret RequiredSCI PreferredWhen you work for JRAD you will never be just a number.
