Technical WriterDPP is seeking a Technical Writer for an opportunity with our client in the Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing industry. Work location: Onsite in Elkridge, MD Work schedule: 9x80 A Duration: 12 months Terms: W2 contract Work authorization: US Citizen; must hold a US DoD Secret clearance Position summary:We are looking for a specialized Technical Writer to join our client's high-performing team in developing technical manual content for advanced Ground/Air Task-Oriented Radar military systems. Successful candidates will have excellent communications and interpersonal skills, be proactive, possess excellent problem-solving and organizational skills, and be self-motivated.Responsibilities:Writes, rewrites, develops technical manual content such as Operating Procedures, Maintenance procedures, Troubleshooting procedures, Preventive Maintenance, to communicate clearly and effectively technical information and instructions to the military end-user.Oversee development of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts.Conduct quality review of materials.Author and publish materials in electronic (basic and interactive), structured (HTML, XML, and SGML).Collaborate with task leads, writers, engineers, and instructors, to develop and deliver technical manuals to varying levels of details.Research and compile information from program documents, engineering sources, et al.

to develop manual outlines and adhere to military specifications and standards of technical writing.Perform other duties as assigned.Basic qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in STEM discipline or related fieldOr Military operations and maintenance experience with radar, communications, electro-optics, networks and information technology-based sensors/systemsOr proven mechanical aptitude demonstrated by job experience required for grasping the maintenance part of the technical manualsAbility to comprehend military specifications (experience with MIL-STD-40051 a plus)Proficiency with MS Office ProductsProficiency with Adobe AcrobatExperience tagging XML documentsMinimum of 2 years' technical writing experience with structured authoring applications, such as Arbortext, and/or IADS viewer or other XML authoring software toolsExperience using Confluence/JIRAProven ability to manage several tasks simultaneouslyExcellent attention to detail and good organizational skillsPossess and maintain Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearanceSelf-starter and engaged team memberPreferred qualifications:Minimum of 5 years' technical writing experience with structured authoring applications, such as Arbortext, and/or IADS viewer, or other XML authoring software toolsKnowledge of Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE 100)Expert knowledge of standards – XML, SGML, HTML, S1000D and DITA for structured ContentPossess and maintain DoD Secret clearanceSelf-starter and engaged team member
